Last Night's Boys' Regional Scores

After a whole week of close games in the regionals, last night saw a bunch of yawners (except for the Daviess Co. game). Huge crowds turned out to watch the Sixth and Seventh Region semi-finals at Bellarmine, and they saw four double-digit wins. Even the big showdown between number 1 Eastern and number 2 Ballard turned into a snooze, as Eastern blew open the game with a 14-4 run to open the second half that gave them a 42-29 lead and effectively ended any drama.

By the way, it is ludicrous that the Sixth and Seventh Regional finals have to be played in a tiny gym at Bellarmine that seats only 3,000 people. Someone in Louisville needs to build a bigger gym.

Anyway, we eliminated nine more teams last night. There are 56 teams still vying for the state title:

3d Region Semi-finals (at Meade Co.):
Daviess Co. 56, Breckinridge Co. 53 (Daviess advances to play Muhlenberg Co. for the regional title)

6th Region Semi-Finals (at Bellarmine):
Bullitt East 73, Lou. Western 50
Lou. Pleasure Ridge Park 60, Lou. Butler 48

7th Region Semi-Finals (at Bellarmine):
Lou. Jeffersontown 73, Lou. Seneca 59
Lou. Eastern 66, Lou. Ballard 52

10th Region Quarter-Finals (at Mason Co.):
George Rogers Clark 63, Harrison Co. 53
Scott 99, Augusta 69

16th Region Semi-Finals (at Morehead St.):
Ashland Blazer 61, Elliott Co. 55
Rowan Co. 60, Lewis Co. 29
