This is the first album on the list that I really don't feel belongs here at all, but especially as low on the list as number 31 which is where this comes in on the Best of the 70's list.
First there is no single song on here as strong as anything Reed did with The Velvet Underground. Second this is yet another David Bowie vehicle. He and his right hand man Mick Ronson went into the studio with Reed to help construct this sound which was specifically aimed at the glam audience of the time. There is nothing on this album that qualifies it for one of the best albums of the 70's. If Berlin were on this list I could understand that, though it wouldn't be on my list, just because of what Reed was trying to do with Berlin.
There are a few good tracks here, like "Walk On the Wild Side," that would fit great on a mix tape for the 70's but outside of that I'm not that drawn to this album.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.
Makes me want to listen to The Feelies.
ReplyDeleteI like "Walk on the Wild Side."

ReplyDeleteI wasn't the only one thinking about The Feelies today.
