Coming in at number 71 on the Best of the 70's list is this one of a kind album that seems to perfectly fit with the 70's. I'm not a big fan of this album, but I can't imagine having a 70's list where this wasn't included.
It was the brainchild of Jim Steinman who composed the entire album and got Todd Rundgren to produce it. All they needed was a singer and they found possibly the only guy who could sell this idea Meat Loaf.
Like I said I'm not a big fan, and I can only really see playing this when you're in the mood for it, though it's possible you could pull "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" out for a mix tape.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
I wonder what year that big Christopher Cross record came out. I hope that gets five stars.
ReplyDeleteI think this album is a masterpiece. Here's the deal: if you like this type of music, then you have to like this album -- because no one else writes this type of song. I say, "Hooray for Jim Steinman."
ReplyDeleteAlso, Tony Kornheiser was a big Jim Steinman fan. Steinman may be a Long Island guy.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Wikipedia, Jim Steinman actually went to high school with Tony Kornheiser. So there you go.
