Best of the 70's: Aja by Steely Dan

AjaComing in at number 57 on the Best of the 70's list is this 1977 jazz/rock classic from Steely Dan.  With "Deacon Blues" and "Peg" this album produced two radio hits.  This album in many ways represents the peak of the jazz/rock form of the 1970's.  Steely Dan stripped down their sound to create very clean pop songs, but went deeper into the jazz sound, extending the songs and building more depth to their arrangements and production.

I'm not the biggest Steely Dan fan, but I think this is a good album to own.  Great for background music while you read, play board games, or when you just want some music on while you think.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 3 out of 5 stars for Pretty Good.

  1. Classic Albums is my favorite VH1 series, and that's saying something, boy.
