Album Review: Underneath the Pine by Toro Y Moi

Underneath The PineThis is what we like to call electronic pop.  Moi's take on electropop is fairly subtle.  In other words this is not fast, electronic dance music.  This is paced, structured songs that are built on an electronica backdrop.

There are times when Moi nails it perfectly and so you get some very good moments on this record, but then there are times when he misses completely.  It is hard then to fall completely into the groove he's creating, but I'm intrigued enough I'll be looking to see what he does in the future.

This would be a good album to play while doing your spring cleaning as it has a fresh clean feel to it.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.

  1. Indeed, this proved to be appropriate music as a backdrop to updating work files with the windows open on this breezy, springish day in the dirty Mad.
