I talked about how Nick Drake to me is all about mood. The same with The Cure's Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. Much of the success comes from setting mood and so I actually think of this as a critical piece to constructing an album, but you need more than just mood for an album to work.
There is a mood here. It's a mood created by the music and by abstract lyrics that elicit images of sex, violence, drugs, and power. It's a mood that feels contrived, not real. There is no substance to the lyrics, they are just abstract words thrown together to create an emotional reaction not create thought.
I really don't like this album and to me it's everything that is wrong with rap music.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 0 out of 5 stars for Don't Like.
