This is the third Neil Young album so far on the Best of the 1970's list and this one comes in at number 81. To me it's the weakest of the three and actually falls into the class of Neil Young stuff I don't like. It has the classic "My My, Hey Hey," but besides that there isn't a song on here that really grabs me.
The album is a mix of recorded live on the road and recorded in studio and this adds an odd feel to the work as a whole.
If you are a big Neil Young fan then I guess this is right up your ally. If you are like me and can take him or leave him, then I'd pass on this one.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.
I love the phrase "Rust Never Sleeps."
ReplyDeleteHe apparently stole that from a television ad.
ReplyDeleteI totally stand by my earlier Neil Young comment.
ReplyDeleteWhatever associate at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce came up with the phrase "Rust Never Sleeps" was a genius.
