Best of the 70's: Cosmo's Factory by Creedance Clearwater Revival

Cosmo's FactoryAs "Heard It Through the Grapevine" entered it's 7th minute I thought to myself why would anyone ever pick this album to be in any top list of the 70's?  I honestly don't get it.  The CCR flame would burn out very shortly after this album came out in 1970 and they would no more be.  I could see picking one of their earlier albums for a list from the 60's, but not this for the 70's. Currently this album sits at number 84 on the Best of the 70's list.

Like most CCR albums I would say pull off the few solid songs and junk the rest.  A little CCR can go along ways on a mix tape.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.

  1. I met a guy at Western, from Glasgow, who had never heard of the Marvin Gaye version of "I Heard It Through the Grapevine." I'm not making fun of the guy; I had never heard of U2 until about my second month in Bowling Green, in 1985. It's just interesting what some people are and aren't exposed to. Another WKU friend, from Holy Cross, had never eaten cottage cheese or ridden on an elevator until he came to college. Of course, we would make fun of him unmercifully, asking him if he was scared of the "magic box" any time he'd get on the elevator at the Downing University Center.
