Album Review: Red Barked Tree by Wire

Red Barked TreeThese guys put out their first album in 1977 and since have averaged about three albums a decade.  I know of Wire and their influence on bands like REM, but I myself have never listened to them except to catch a song here and there.

I don't know what to say about this album.  It doesn't do much for me.  A bit sluggish.  Take a song like "Now Was," there is something about this song that just feels trapped in the studio.  Somewhere is a song with a lot of energy and life, but as it is it feels trapped inside a plastic box.

I could see playing this as background music for playing cards.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.
