OVC Standings

When the season began, most folks thought the OVC would again be a two-team race between Murray and Morehead. But while Murray has looked awesome at times (they blew out SEMo 96-58 last night), they have also suffered two very close losses at home (64-66 to Peay and 60-61 to Eastern Illinois), to go along with their season-opening loss at Morehead. Since beating Murray, Morehead struggled a bit, then ran their record to 5-2, but has since lost back-to-back games against Eastern Illinois and Eastern Kentucky.

With the Racers and Eagles struggling somewhat, Austin Peay and Tennessee State have taken advantage. The Austin Peay Governors have only lost to Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech, while the Tigers of TSU have won 7 out of 8 conference games since opening with a loss to Eastern Illinois.

This is a huge week coming up, because Austin Peay and TSU have to make the trip to Appalachia. The Governors will play at EKU on Thursday and at Morehead on Saturday, while TSU will play at Morehead on Thursday and at EKU on Saturday. Meanwhile, here's where things stand (conference games only):

Austin Peay: 7-2
Tennessee St: 7-2
Murray St: 6-3
Morehead St: 5-4
E. Kentucky: 5-4
Tennessee Tech: 5-4
E. Illinois: 4-5
SE Missouri: 4-6
UT-Martin: 3-7
Jacksonville St: 0-9

  1. I'd be scared of Eastern Illinois in the OVC tournament.
