To reset, the Vandals are 5-1 in the WAC, while the Broncos are 4-2. Ken Pomeroy has the Vandals ranked number 139 in the country, with Boise at 86. He also has the Broncs winning 65-67 tonight, so we will have to hope that he is wrong.
Idaho was up 33-26 at the half, but Boise has been the better team so far in this half.
Huge decision here for the officials to make. Boise has actually scored to go up 60-64, but Idaho claims that the shot clock expired before Boise made the shot. The officials are checking.
Idaho 62 - 66 Boise St. (20.5 seconds left in 2d half)
Well, the curse of live-blogging has taken down the Vandals. Boise made their FT's, Idaho threw the ball away, and now Boise is going back to the line.
Boise makes both FT's. Idaho ends up with their center taking his first three-point shot of the whole season. He misses. So the Vandals' winning streak comes to an end.
I'm just getting the feeling that Idaho never beats Boise St. in anything -- sort of like NCSU and UNC.
The Vandals had a big turnout, and the crowd seemed enthusiastic, but on TV, at least, that dome looks like a terrible place to get any sort of home-court advantage. The basketball crowd looks tiny compared to the size of the building, and it would seem like a lot of the sound would just go up into the ceiling. I would love to know more about what it is like to watch a game there.
Idaho 52 - 51 Boise St. (6:38 left in 2d half)
ReplyDeleteBroncos going to the line when we come back from a timeout.

For the game, Boise is shooting only 39 percent (22-56), while Idaho is at 50 percent (24-48), but Idaho has 11 turnovers to only six for Boise.
Idaho's three-point shooting has also been dreadful; the Vandals are only 2-12. (Boise is 6-22).

ReplyDeleteThe Boise basket stood -- which I thought was a bad call. Idaho responded with two free throws, and then fouled to send Boise to the line.

ReplyDeleteBut Boise misses both free throws, and Idaho scores with a quick layup. Timeout. Boise inbounding the ball when we return.
I would remind you that Pomeroy had this game 65 - 67 to Boise, and with 13 seconds to go it is 64-66.

I saw a bunch of Vandals fans tonight before the game at a local restaurant.
