It has been 16 years since his last album, but El DeBarge has returned. Amazingly his voice has held up and matched with smart producers has managed to put together a fairly solid album. If you liked El DeBarge back in 1986 you will probably like the new El DeBarge as much if not better. There is a bit more depth to his lyrics and his singing.
For me the album drags a bit in the middle, but it's not bad. I could see throwing this on in the background during game night with friends.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
Best of luck to El DeBarge on his second chance.
ReplyDeleteEl DeBarge's new CD Second Chance deserves better recognition then what this person wrote; but, were all entitled to our opinion. Those of us whom have excellent taste in music know that El's CD is valued for nothing less then phenominal! After being out of the industry for 16 years; there has never been another artist to come back with such a sensational CD and get a 2 grammy nomination; this is thrilling and well deserved. Besides blood, sweat and tears, El put his heart and redemption into this awesome CD. El has exceeded his fans expectations; his CD rates a 5 out of 5 and seriously, no less.
