King of the Bluegrass

The first round was completed today. Here were the results, which include two really close games:

Game 1: Boone Co. 82, Lou. Fairdale 77 (OT). The hosts lose a tough game to the number-21 team in the state.

Game 2: Lou. Eastern 76, Bullitt East 59. The number-2 team in Kentucky had relatively little trouble in this game.

Game 3: Bowling Green 82, Lou. Iroquois 70. The Purples were led by U of L signee Chane Behanan, who scored 40 points.

Game 4: Lou. Trinity 69, Christian Co. 65 (OT). The number-12 Shamrocks upset number-3 County in a very hard-fought game.

So here are tomorrow's games in the winner's bracket. Rankings for Kentucky schools are in parentheses:

Game 9: Chaparral (Scottsdale, AZ) v. Bob Jones (Madison, AL)
Game 10: Boone Co. (21) v. Lou. Eastern (2)
Game 11: Jeffersontown (1) v. Sheldon (Sacramento, CA)
Game 12: Lou. Trinity (12) v. Bowling Green (7)

It should be noted that Jeffersontown, which has already beaten Pearl (MS), will have to defeat two more out-of-state schools to reach the final game.

Here are the matchups in the loser's bracket. Because the field is so strong, these games also feature a number of ranked teams:

Game 13: Lou. Pleasure Ridge Park (11) v. Lou. Male
Game 14: Lou. Fairdale v. Bullitt East
Game 15: Pearl (MS) v. Warren Central (5)
Game 16: Christian Co. (3) v. Lou. Iroquois (13)
