The Tim Couch Trophy (for best team in the mountains) goes to Belfry

The Paul Hornung Trophy (for best team in Jefferson County) goes to Trinity

The Coach Blanton Collier Trophy (for best team in the Bluegrass) goes to Boyle County

The Jim Bunning Trophy (for best team in Northern Kentucky) goes to Ft. Thomas Highlands

The Al Baker Trophy (for the best team between Louisville and the Purchase) goes to Allen Co.-Scottsville

The Certificate for Team that Should Be Forced to Move Up to a Higher Level of Competition was actually awarded to two teams: Louisville Central and Ft. Thomas Highlands

And, for the fourth year, in a row, the Worst Idea Associated with High School Football in Kentucky award goes to those who decided that a state with no more than 20 very strong football programs should award six state championships instead of four, thus preventing the sort of match-ups (Mayfield v. Newport Central Catholic, Lou. Central v. Highlands) that would have made this weekend's playoffs worth watching.

Now, on to basketball!
