Album Review: The Beginning by The Black Eyed Peas

The Beginning (Deluxe Version) [+digital booklet]I'll just get straight to the point, this is a pass.  I like the Peas, but this album has very little to offer.  The dance grooves are old and the pop tunes are missing for the most part.  It would be nice too if they didn't auto tune every vocal.

Maybe this is the Peas being experimental, but the problem is they aren't really cutting new ground here.  If you like the Peas I suggest you pull out the few straight pop songs on the album and junk the rest.  It may be that with their next album they find this new dance groove they are searching for, but they haven't found it here.

I could see pulling a few songs off for a workout.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 1 out of 5 stars for Just OK.

My workout EP for The Beginning
1. Light Up the Night
2. Love You Long Time
3. Someday
4. The Best One Yet

  1. 60 album reviews!

You should start thinking about a year-end wrap-up.

Also, are you going to review any Christmas records?

  2. I had thought about doing some Christmas records, but I don't know that I'll get to them.

    I definitely need to do a year-end wrap-up.
