Update on the other Kentucky schools

Like a lot of people in western Kentucky, the primary focus of the Heath Post's interests during basketball season is on the Big Blue. But we also keep an eye on the other D-1 schools in the Commonwealth. Here's how they're doing so far:

Murray State is 2-1, with easy wins over ETSU and Reinhardt (an NAIA school), but they were beaten pretty soundly (77-61) when they went to Ole Miss.

Western Kentucky is 3-2. The Hilltoppers started off with easy wins over St. Joseph and Alabama A&M, before heading to the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. There they got crushed by Tubby's Minnesota team 95-77, came from behind to beat Hofstra 62-60, but were then beaten in the fifth-place game by Davidson, 64-51. The mood on Hilltopper Haven is quite grim.

Morehead State is 2-2. The Eagles started off with wins over Asbury College and North Carolina A&T, but have since lost close games at UNC-Wilmington (60-58) and Florida (60-55). Their fans will be encouraged about the closeness of the Florida game.

Eastern Kentucky is 2-3. The Colonels started off the season in something called the Nick Kladis Classic in Chicago, where they lost to Loyola of Chicago and Texas-Pan American. EKU then went to Indiana State and won, and then beat SIU-Edwardsville in their first home game to even their record. But Saturday EKU lost a tough one, 67-66 at home to Presbyterian.

Louisville is 2-0, with home wins over Butler and Jackson State.
