Next Week's Games, Classes 4A to 6A

Let's continue with the preview:

Class 4A:
Lou. Western (10-3) v. Allen Co.-Scottsville (12-0)
Bell Co. (13-0) v. Boyle Co. (13-0)

2009 Championship Game: Boyle Co. 42, Lone Oak 39 (2 OT)
2008 Championship Game: Bell Co. 15, Bullitt East 13
2007 Championship Game: Lexington Catholic 49, Lone Oak 7

Louisville Western is another Jefferson County magnet school, this one focusing on math, science, and technology. I hope that means they have rigorous standards that prevent them from stockpiling football players, and that this title will go to one of the three true 4A schools competing for the crown.

Class 5A:
John Hardin (13-0) v. Christian Co. (11-2)
Harlan Co. (11-2) v. Ft. Thomas Highlands (12-1)

2009 Championship Game: Ft. Thomas Highlands 35, John Hardin 7
2008 Championship Game: Ft. Thomas Highlands 35, Christian Co. 15
2007 Championship Game: Ft. Thomas Highlands 28, Bowling Green 7

As you can see, this has not been a very competitive division, as Highlands has never lost a 5A playoff game. (They've won 18 consecutive 5A playoff games.) I will be very surprised if we don't end up with a rematch between Highlands and Hardin in the final.

Class 6A:
Scott Co. (10-3) v. Lou. Male (10-3)
Ryle (12-1) v. Lou. Trinity (12-1)

2009 Championship Game: Lou. St. Xavier 34, Lou. Trinity 10
2008 Championship Game: Lou. Trinity 48, Simon Kenton 0
2007 Championship Game: Lou. Trinity 34, Lou. St. Xavier 28

The 6A championship was decided on Friday, as Trinity beat St. X 35-7. For the sake of tradition, Trinity will be required to play two more games before actually receiving the trophy.
