World Series: Texas 4 - 2 San Francisco (Middle of the 8th)

In response to years of complaints about how kids are unable to watch the World Series, MLB scheduled this game to start at 7 PM Eastern time -- over an hour earlier than the usual start. And both teams played as though they were determined to finish the game quickly and give the kids a chance to get to bed -- especially the Giants, who could do almost nothing with Colby Lewis, the Texas starting pitcher. Lewis was only 12-13 during the regular season, but he cruised through tonight's first seven innings, entering the 8th with a 4-1 lead.

But in the top of the 8th, Lewis gave up a solo home run to Andres Torres, and hit Aubrey Huff with two out. At this point, manager Ron Washington went to his beleaguered bullpen, which was humiliated in the first two games. Darren O'Day came in to pitch to Buster Posey, the Giants' cleanup hitter. And after running the count to 3-2, O'Day . . . induced Posey to ground out.

So the Rangers are only three outs away from getting their first win in the Series.
