World Series: San Francisco 11 - 7 Texas (San Francisco leads 1-0)

So that whole Cliff Lee think may not work out for the Rangers after all. The Rangers jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings, and Texas fans no doubt thought the game was in the bag at that point, because Lee (their starting pitcher) has been virtually unhittable in the post-season.

But not tonight. The Giants tied the game with two runs in the third, and drove Lee out of the game with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs and two on, the Rangers pulled Lee and brought in Darren O'Day, who promptly gave up a three-run homer that made the score 8-2 and effectively ended the game.

After that, the clubs engaged in sloppy fielding (the teams combined for six errors) and poor pitching (they combined for 18 runs and 25 hits) until the game came to a merciful end.

  1. I guess Lee is no 1988 Oral Hershiser.
