Ryder Cup Time, weather edition

So, it turns out that there's a reason why the Vaughns tend like hills and rainy, overcast weather -- it is apparently part of our Welsh heritage. I've been watching the Ryder Cup this morning, and the area in Wales where the tournament is being played looks remarkably like middle Tennessee or the Shenandoah Valley. My ancestors must have thought the upper South was as close as they would get to feeling at home in a new continent.

Anyway, it's pouring in Wales, and they have had to stop the golf. This is fine with me, as the USA is going to get stomped in any event, and I have enjoyed reading about it on the Guardian's live blog. I merely wanted to point out that in yet another example of American incompetence in this event, it turns out that our team's rain suits do not actually repel water. I would have thought that's the sort of thing you would have checked on before playing a tournament in Wales, but apparently not. I suppose that pretty much tells you everything you need to know about Corey Pavin's ability to captain our team.

As a Nats fan, of course, I'm used to uniform problems. Just not when it comes to golf.
