Murray State's 72-59 win over Missouri State on Saturday was the most exciting and astonishing football game I've ever attended. When Murray State, trailing 59-52, failed on a fourth-down, halfback-throwback attempt, I was certain that Racers' valiant comeback had been all for naught. Alas, Missouri State subsequently fumbled the next three times it touched the football, and the Racers overcame. Casey Brockman, a Calloway County High grad and Murray native, is my Heisman Trophy favorite. Furthermore, the Murray State band was excellent (top picture), I really enjoyed the folks we sat next to (middle) and my daughter and her grandfather (bottom) had a blast watching the thoroughbred circle the track around the Roy Stewart Stadium field when the home team scored.
Now it's time for WKU to get its first win. I think this might be that glorious Saturday. The Hilltoppers' margin of loss in their five games this season has shrunk from 39, to 35, to 17, to 12 and (last week) to seven points. Louisiana-Monroe is 2-5, and last November it survived, 21-18, at home against Western. GO, BIG RED!

I had been waiting for a report from Murray. That poor horse.
ReplyDeleteThey actually would allow it to run only three or four times per half. He didn't run after each touchdown. This was Murray's homecoming game, so it would've been the perfect opportunity to mill around the stands asking alumni for donations to pay for a second horse.
