NLCS: San Francisco 3 - 0 Philadelphia (San Francisco leads 2-1)
Well, well, well. Now things are getting interesting. The Phillies join the Yankees, as both defending pennant winners are now down 2-1. For the second time in three games, the Giants' starter outdueled a very good Philadelphia pitcher. Cole Hamels pitched quite well for the Phils, giving up only three runs in six innings. But Matt Cain, who went 13-11 with an ERA of 3.14 during the regular season, was completely dominant: seven innings, two hits, and no runs. Both San Francisco and Texas are getting spectacular pitching from their starters, which is why they are both in good shape.

Wow. It's hard to imagine we could get a Giants, Rangers series.
ReplyDeleteIt's the kind of series that would sometimes turn up when I would work out these elaborate leagues with my baseball cards. I would have played all of these games, made all of these trades and kept meticulous statistics all season long. Then the Rangers and Giants would somehow advance to the World Series, and I'd just lose interest and quit the whole thing along about the fourth inning of Game 2.
