Wow. The Giants will not go away. The Phillies put in Jose Contreras to pitch. He got one out and then Andres Torres slapped a single. Freddy Sanchez (who already has two hits tonight) then absolutely crushed a line drive -- but it went straight to the Phillies third baseman. That was it for Contreras; the Phillies brought in J.C. Romero to pitch to Aubrey Huff, the Giants' dangerous number-three hitter. Huff hammered what looked like a sure single to right, but the Phillies' shift had put Chast Utley in the perfect position, and the Phillies' second baseman caught the ball to end the inning.
In the course of this inning, the Giants pinch-hit for Lincecum. It will be interesting to see if Philadelphia can do anything against his successor.
