The Rangers get men on first and second in the top of the fifth. Down 2-0, the Rays' manager pulls his starter and brings in a relief pitcher. The relief pitcher gives up a three-run homer. Fangraphs now shows that the Rangers have a 93 percent chance of winning. The Rays' manager comes out and screams at the umpire on the grounds that the Rangers' batter should have been called out on a checked swing before he hit the home run. That does about as much good as you would expect.
Personally, I won't miss the Rays at all if they are eliminated. Their uniforms look like something you would see in Double-A ball, and they play in a stadium with less ambiance than the Astrodome circa 1977. There are very few post-season day games, and it is a shame that any of them have to be played in a silly dome.
