ALDS: Minnesota 4 - 6 New York (New York leads 1-0)
Mark Teixeira hit a 2-run homer in the top of the seventh and the Yankee bullpen shut the Twins down the rest of the way. Mariano Rivera came in with two on and two out in the 8th inning and ended the inning on a ground out. With two outs in the ninth, the Twins were gifted a hit when the umpires ruled that a fly ball in right field was trapped, even though it was actually caught. This brought the tying run to the plate in the form of Jim Thome, but Rivera retired him on only one pitch.
