I'm not saying this is a bad album or that I don't like Belle and Sebastian it's just that I don't get the pop craftsman label.
As for this album, well it's pretty simple. If you like Belle and Sebastian you'll like this album. It fits right in with their other stuff. It's a bit more keyboardy but all in all it's still Belle and Sebastian at what they do.
As for me I can take it or leave it like I am with all of their stuff. I could see playing this on a rainy day while reading or trapped indoors at the beach.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
The bleakness gets to me, too, so I'll never be any too much of a fan. But I do think they are fine pop craftspeople, and I actually like this song more than most of their stuff that I've heard.
ReplyDeleteIn "High Fidelity," the record store guys are listening to Belle and Sebastian when Jack Black storms in and starts blasting "Walking on Sunshine."
ReplyDeleteOne of my good friends is a huge Belle and Sebastian fan, so he'll be happy to know about this album.
