Album Review: For We Are Many by All That Remains

For We Are ManyAll That Remains is a metalcore band.  At its essence metalcore is a melding of heavy metal and hardcore punk.  One of the early metalcore bands would be Suicidal Tendencies.  These guys are not the Suicidal Tendencies.

In fact I have to say I don't see the punk aspect in this band at all.  The songs are melodically crafted, and almost orchestral in their construct.  The only part of punk that is left is the singer essentially shouting over the music.

I've never been much of a metalcore fan, and especially of the growly voice maneuver, but I can understand it's appeal I suppose.  Anyhow this album to me seems so incredibly formulaic in its presentation it feels about as far from punk as you can get, and really does nothing to draw you into the album.

I couldn't see playing this for any reason.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 0 out of 5 stars for Don't Like.

  1. At some point, I would like to see a summary of the album reviews -- how many 5 stars, 4 stars, 3 stars, and so forth -- which are the best albums reviewed, and which are the worst.

Also, I'm still hoping for a review of "Tumbleweed Connection" by Elton John.

  3. I took Rube's advice and elected to not play it for any reason.
