As I listened to this album a second time I suddenly realized I didn't like it. Bruno Mars has made a career of doing behind the scenes work, producing and song writing, but he recently found his own fame with the single "Nothin' on You" collaborating with rapper B.o.B. This album then is his solo effort at showing off his talents. He's got a good voice and he knows how to write pop songs, but this album has absolutely no soul. It was the hearing of the song "Our First Time" on that second listen that made me realize this album is junk. The only song that has any real feel to it is the last song on the album "The Other Side" and that's because Cee Lo Green is featured on it and he always brings life.
I wouldn't play this album for any reason and would get angry if I heard it in the background at some gathering. Throw the song "The Other Side" on your run mix and trash the rest.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 0 out of 5 stars for Don't Like.

ReplyDeletethis song is fine. in my book, it fits right in with a lot of pop radio, which is to say that i wouldn't necessarily choose it but am unbothered by it.
