If you had told me back in 1985 that U2 would be a huge musical influence in 2010 I probably would have laughed. Though I was a big fan of U2 at the time I never imagined them reaching the kind of popularity that would gain so much influence. With Joshua Tree they became mainstream and developed a big rock sound that today's big acts turn to as they develop albums to be played in front of a large audience.
Kings of Leon is a big act producing an album to play in front of large stadium audiences so it should be no surprise to hear the U2 influence on the sound of this album. Their last album sold 6.2 million records world wide and they look to follow that up with another chart topper.
This album pretty much fits with what I think of when I think Kings of Leon, so I don't see any reason for it not to be a success.
I'm not a Kings of Leon fan, but they don't bother me either, and that's about where I would put this album. There isn't anything on here that grabs me and makes me want to play it over and over, but there certainly isn't anything to make me turn it off.
I could see playing this album while you clean the house on a rainy day.
Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
This really does sound like a U2 cutout. Very good connection, Rube.
