Album Review: As I Call You Down by Fistful of Mercy

Do you like Crosby, Stills, and Nash?  Especially the slow CSN?  Well then you might like this album.  Similar to CSN this band is a collection of artists from other projects all come together to make a folk trio.

They have a nice collection of voices and work well harmonizing together, but there is something off about this album.  It's a bit too slow for one thing.  There were times the second time through where I wanted to yell at them to pick it up a bit.  It's also a bit sloppy.  Some of the songs feel very put together, like the opening track "In Vain or True," but others sound like a collaboration effort where they only had one weekend to record the whole album. 

Maybe with a bit more time in the studio this album would be much better, but as it is it falls a bit short.

I could see throwing this on in the evening when you want the kids to wind down towards bed time.

Following the Rhapsody rating method I give it 2 out of 5 stars for Not Bad.
