There will be no Kentucky-minute coverage of tonight's football action, as Rachel's sister is coming over to hang out with Virginia while the Nance Woehlers head out on the town. So, I'll be checking in tomorrow morning on the results from around the state, especially these:
Associated Press No. 1 Class A Mayfield at Fulton City
AP No. 1 2A Newport Central Catholic at Newport
AP No. 1 3A Somerset at Taylor County
AP No. 1 4A Boyle County at Lexington Lafayette. Mark Story has a fun read in The Herald-Leader about the recruiting adventures of Boyle County linebacker Lamar Dawson.
AP No. 1 5A Fort Thomas Highlands at Dixie Heights. Highlands also is one of only four high schools in the state who are currently on track to meet their 2020 testing goals, the AP reported this week.
AP No. 1 6A Louisville Trinity vs. No. 2 Louisville Saint Xavier. Which side are you on, boy?
Monroe County at Franklin-Simpson. Monroe County (6-0) is the AP's No. 2 2A team, behind (5-1) Newport Central Catholic. If the Monroe County bus driver follows Mapquest's advice and loops all the way up to Glasgow and Bowling Green to do 84 miles of four-lane garbage, instead of simply taking the 61-mile direct route west on Ky. 100 between Tompkinsville to Franklin, he has no spunk whatsoever.
Lone Oak at Green County. The 6-0 Purple Flash is the state's third-ranked 4A team.
Paducah Tilghman at Webster County. The Blue Tornado is 4-2 and fourth in 3A.
Ballard Memorial at Crittenden County. That blowout loss to Caldwell County last Friday sunk the 4-1 Rockets from fifth in Class A to ninth.
Murray at Reidland. At 6-0, Murray is third in 2A and received three first-place votes this week. Meanwhile, on the strength of last week's win over Heath (obviously), the Greyhounds are now getting votes for the 2A poll. Reidland is effectively tied for 12th in the state.
Bell County at Knox Central. The AP voters are least sure about 4A. Boyle County got 15 first-place votes this week; No. 2 Bell, seven. Both are 5-0.
Bethlehem at Washington County
Caldwell County at Trigg County. It's homecoming night at Perdue Field in Cadiz, and this game is likely to have significant impact on which team might be playing a first-round 2A playoff game at home.
Madisonville-North Hopkins at Hopkins County Central
Union County at Heath. “They really don’t play like a team that is 0-5," Braves coach Steve Carter warned Dan Schumerth in this week's Union County Advocate. Heath Post readers everywhere can listen to tonight's game live.
Oh man I tuned in tonight for the coverage.
ReplyDeleteThe radio coverage is great. I was listening to the pregame show and it was all we this and we that in the talk with the coach.
ReplyDeleteIt's not going well for Heath so far, they are quickly down 14-0. Just gave up a 70 something yard run for a TD.
ReplyDeleteUgh, another score for Union County right at the start of the 2nd quarter to go up 21-0.
ReplyDeleteOh this is awful, it's now 28-0. I believe their last two drives have taken about 1 minute.
ReplyDeleteHad to go away for a minute. Came back just in time to hear another score for Union County. It's now 42-0.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to sleep instead of listening to the second half.
well, heck.
