2010 Giro Di Lombardia

This is the last classic of the season and it is considered to be one of the toughest.  This year was especially tough as the riders were caught in heavy, cool rain for the full 260km.  Out of the 195 riders that started the race only 34 finished.

The big favorite going in was Phillipe Gilbert, last year's champ, and he delivered with a solid performance.

The last two seasons Gilbert has dominated the final third.  Gilbert is Belgium and the major Belgian races occur generally in the first third of the season.  He needs to figure out a way to be in this peak form in April if he wants to topple Tom Boonen as the top Belgian rider.
