Vuelta a España: Stage 14

It is so hard to win a grand tour. Three weeks of racing and nothing can go wrong.  Sad to say Igor Anton, after fighting so hard to have the lead, had something go terribly wrong today.  With 6.5km to go the front group were descending and positioning for the final climb clicking along at 65kph.  Apparently Anton hit a pothole and that was the end of Anton's Vuelta.  If you watch the video you'll see the aftermath of the crash, Anton looks a mess suffering what they suspect is a broken elbow.

With Anton out all eyes turned to Vincenzo Nibali and Joaquin Rodriguez the two men sitting 2nd and 3rd at the start of the day.  Nibali put in a vicious attack with 1.5km to go and looked to be riding away to a stage win and the leader's jersey, but he cracked with 800m to go and was passed by Rodriguez.  Nibali managed to secure the leaders jersey, but just he has a four second lead.

We have another mountain top finish tomorrow.  There are four guys within a minute of the lead.  What a great Vuelta so far, just a horrible ending for Anton.

The American's meanwhile are sticking close, in fact Tom Danielson has moved into the top 10.
