So Navy went for it, they ran their most basic play -- the quarterback keeper -- and they got stuffed.
I think going for it was the right thing to do. Their chances of getting one yard on one play were much better than their chances of making a field goal and winning in overtime.
It is a real heartbreaker for the Mids, who really were the better team in many ways. But football is a game that punishes mistakes, and Navy just made too many mistakes today. (They also missed a field goal back in the first quarter.)
And so the game ends with Maryland running out the clock on its own one yard line, which is a very odd way to end a football game.
