Maryland 14 - 7 Navy (13:18 left in 2d quarter)

Huge day for the ACC today. Maryland is playing Navy in the Crab Bowl at Ravens Stadium. This game is not played very often. Maryland beat Navy in a close game several years ago, and it would be a huge win for the Mids to knock off the state school kids. Maryland jumped out to a 14-0 lead, but Navy is now battling back.

But the Crab Bowl is just the warm-up. The game of the day -- and perhaps the season -- is being played at FedEx Field in PG County, Maryland between # 3 Boise State and # 10 Virginia Tech. If Boise can win this game, they should be able to run the table and play for the National Championship. On the other hand, Tech could help itself and give the ACC some needed national credibility with a win tonight.

The Boise folks have shown up, by the way. I've been working downtown the last three days, and I've seen 20-30 Boise fans over that time walking the streets of Our Nation's Capital. But Tech has a great fan base as well.

There aren't too many occasions where the eye of the college football nation turns to Maryland, but this is one of those days. I am very eager to see what happens.
