We stink

It is simply impossible to overstate how poorly American golfers have played this year. Here is the complete list of all PGA tournaments since May 1 that were won by Americans:

1. The Colonial (Zach Johnson)
2. Travelers' Championship (Bubba Watson)
3. John Deere Classic (Steve Stricker)
4. Reno-Tahoe Open (Matt Bettancourt)
5. World Golf Classic -- Bridgestone Invitational (Hunter Mahan)
6. Turning Stone Resort Championship (Bill Lundle)

That's it. That's the list. And note that two of those tournaments -- the Reno-Tahoe and Turning Stone tournaments -- were alternate tournaments that did not contain a full field. The Reno-Tahoe was played the week of the British Open, and the Turning Stone was played the week of the Bridgestone Invitational.
