Oh, Kentucky

Larry Conley, a former "Rupp Runt" and now a college-hoops commentator, was back home to visit family this week and took time out to suggest to the Ashland Breakfast Kiwanis Club that the NCAA might soon be gone.

Time to say farewell to the "Big E."

Annie Potts!

Two days until high-school football kicks off in Kentucky. Todd County Central, Webster County and Madison Central all went winless in 2009 but still made the playoffs because they play in districts with only four teams each (and four teams qualify from each district).

Buzz is building for the former Fort Campbell HS Falcon and UK Wildcat who is trying to crack the Miami Dolphins' roster. "Micah Johnson ... had a very good debut for the Dolphins recording three tackles" in Saturday's preseason opener against Tampa Bay. "He was stout against the run and made a couple of nice plays in the backfield. Micah also got called for a roughing the passer call I would not agree with, but I love the young man's tenacity. He goes out there to thump you." And: "For the backup linebackers spot from what I saw out of those three was Micah making the most noise followed by Spitler then Folsom. Micah had one bonehead call against him but was solid."

Grand Funk Railroad is coming to my town to help me party down.
