That's what they should call the team we are sending to compete in the FIBA World Basketball Championships this week. With Rajon Rondo pulling out at the last minute, Durant is by far the best player on the team. Since most players on the team are so young, I decided simply to list them by their college or high school affiliations:
Chauncey Billups, University of Colorado
Tyson Chandler, Dominguez H.S., Los Angeles, Calif.
Stephen Curry, Davidson College
Kevin Durant, University of Texas
Rudy Gay, University of Connecticut
Eric Gordon, Indiana University
Danny Granger, University of New Mexico
Andre Igudola, University of Arizona
Kevin Love, UCLA
Lamar Odom, University of Rhode Island
Derrick Rose, University of Memphis
Russell Westbrook, UCLA
I will be absolutely stunned if this team wins the tournament. Unlike the United States, the rest of the world takes the FIBA championship really seriously (in part because for years, this was everyone else's best chance to win a major title). And this team is simply not very good -- the Lakers, for example, would drill these guys. Also notice that no one from the ACC or the SEC -- the conferences that have accounted for the last five national titles -- are on the squad.
Coach K and Durant really have their work cut out for them.
