Tour De France: Young Riders Jersey

This is for riders who are 25 and under.  Guys who win this Jersey or finish high in the competition are assured to get a big contract from someone, because they have shown that they can ride, at a young age, at the top in a grand tour.  It seems to me that Andy Schleck has won this the past three years.  He has now taken second in the Tour two years in a row, and will now possibly fade into obscurity as he moves onto a newly constructed team next year.  It will be interesting to see how quickly his new team can come around and bring him back to the front of the Tour.  In this sport nothing surprises me and I wouldn't be surprised to never hear from Andy Schleck again in a grand tour.

As I said Robert Gesink and Roman Kreuziger will both get big contracts after their performances.  Neither man showed a real talent for explosive power in the mountains, but both were riding as lieutenants for more veteran riders.  Sometimes these guys can move into a lead role and do well, but more often they try it and fail.  Validimir Karpets and Yaroslav Popovych are the two that first come to mind.
