Today we get the second semi-final in the World Cup -- Germany v. Spain. This is the most anticipated matchup of the tournament so far, and will be regarded by many fans as the true final, as the winner will be heavily favored to beat the Dutch.
Germany is, of course, famous for winning big tournaments -- they have won the World Cup three times. Spain, on the other hand, is famous for being the only big nation in Western Europe that has never lifted the World Cup. But in the Final of the 2008 European Cup, Spain rolled to a relatively easy 1-0 win over Germany -- thereby clearly stamping themselves as the best team in Europe.
This is the rematch. Germany has been so hot in this tournament that I am very hesitant to pick against them, but I really do believe Spain is the better team. If they can avoid falling behind early -- as both England and Argentina did -- I believe Spain should be able to control the ball and grind out a close win.
